Custom Domains & Automated SSL
How to point custom DNS records, enable wildcard certificates, and force HTTPS.
Rubuz includes an automated SSL engine powered by Let’s Encrypt and zero-downtime ACME certificate renewal.
Step 1: Configure Your DNS Records
In your DNS registrar (Cloudflare, Namecheap, Route 53, GoDaddy, etc.), create an A record pointing to your server’s public IPv4 address:
Type: A
Name: @ (or subdomain, e.g. "app")
Value: 198.51.100.25 (Your VPS IP)
TTL: Auto / 300 seconds
If you also wish to support www, add a CNAME record:
Type: CNAME
Name: www
Value: yourdomain.com
Step 2: Add Domain in Rubuz
- In the Rubuz dashboard, navigate to your application.
- Under Domains, click Add Custom Domain.
- Enter your domain name (e.g.
example.com). - Click Verify DNS & Issue SSL.
Rubuz performs an instant pre-flight DNS check before requesting the certificate, preventing rate-limiting from Let’s Encrypt.
Automated Renewals
All certificates issued via Rubuz renew automatically 30 days before expiration. You do not need to configure cron jobs or restart web servers.
