Getting Started

Quickstart: Deploy Your First App to a VPS with Rubuz

Connect a server, deploy your first app from git push or the catalog, and get SSL and backups set up, step by step.

This step-by-step tutorial walks you through setting up a clean cloud server, connecting it to Rubuz, and launching your first app.

Step 1: Provision a Clean VPS

Provision a fresh VPS running Ubuntu 26.04 LTS or Debian 13 (or newer) from any provider:

  • Hetzner Cloud (e.g. CPX11 or CAX11 ARM64)
  • DigitalOcean (e.g. Regular or Premium Droplet)
  • Vultr (High Frequency Compute)
  • AWS Lightsail or EC2

Ensure you have the public IPv4 address and root SSH credentials or an SSH key.

Step 2: Connect Server in Rubuz Dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Rubuz Cloud Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Servers → click Connect Server.
  3. Choose your server operating system and enter your VPS IP address.
  4. Rubuz will prompt you to run a single setup command or automatically connect using your temporary SSH credential.

Once the connection succeeds, Rubuz sets up the rootless container runtime and your server status turns green.

Step 3: Launch an Application Stack

  1. Click on your newly connected server.
  2. Select App Store / Stacks.
  3. Pick an open-source app from the catalog, or connect a GitHub repository to deploy your own Next.js, Astro or Go app.
  4. Enter the app name and its domain (or use a free rubuz.site preview subdomain).
  5. Click Deploy Stack.

Rubuz creates the app’s container and volumes, sets up any database it needs and provisions its SSL certificate.
